SAP IBP in our organization is used for having a 360° vision of our business, from product creation to sales monitoring and other KPIs monitoring. In my personal experience, I used SAP IBP to monitor the most important KPIs and for an analysis of the supply chain and, then advise the top management and the product owner for adjustments in the production and design phase. Basically, a complete vision of the supply chain allows me to have control of the entire scenario and answer quickly to every answer that the top management asks me about how the new products and services are performing. This also means that the possibility to understand in an easy way what are the problems in the supply chain or understand what kind of things could be changed or improved allows you to adapt your business to the market, saving time and going into the market before your competitors. Moreover, the possibility of having a lot of integration channels gives you the possibility to switch fast from one scenario (that could be good in the past) to a new one, even if only for a test. Basically, this means a better ROI, both in terms of more revenues and cost savings.
  • More accurate planning of your business.
  • Real time monitoring of KPIs.
  • You can take data- based decision in real time.
  • The trial version is very limited, but it's a trial! But for the awareness of the platform, SAP could improve the free version.
  • SAP IBP has a lot of functions, but not all are easy to understand and put into practice. Maybe a better demo would be a plus for the awareness of all of them.
SAP IBP is a plus when you have to manage a business with different levels of integrations with other systems and departments. The plus of SAP IBP, like the other SAP systems, is the integration with different programs and clouds (such as AWP) and for this reason, you can have in the same place everything you need for your business: from the data collection to the business understanding analysis, or the market analysis until the end such as the KPI monitoring. Its use gives you a better experience in large and chaotic environments, and it helps to have a clear vision and control of your business. It is less appropriate for small businesses because the training for this platform is not so easy, and for small businesses, in my opinion, it doesn't make sense to invest time and effort to do it.

  • Better ROI (switch quickly from one scenario to another one when the first is not performing as it was expected).
  • improved data quality.
  • improved business understanding.
Like all the products of the SAP family, here you are in, I think, the biggest platform in terms of connections with other systems and programs. For this reason, I think there is a high level of usability because you can reuse all the resources put in place, changing scenarios quickly and having aligned all the people involved in the project in real time.
  • Cloud Solutions
  • Scalability
  • Integration with Other Systems
In the past, we had experience with other tools and systems, but none were not integrated with each other. When we adopted SAP IBP we were searching for a platform that in a unique environment gives us the possibility to have everything we need to manage our business, from the creation of the product/services to its monitoring. And, at that time, we wanted to switch without losing all the data of the previous projects. And the solution was SAP IBP adoption.
SAP Integrated Business Planning has the best performance in terms of integration and scalability. You can also use integrations with other systems, such as AWP and the SAP world (SAP Integrated Business Planning Consolidation, SAP BW/4HANA, SAP TPM, and so on). The others don't have this capability. In other words, with SAP IBP, you don't have limits.

I think it is a great tool to help manage a business of any size.
  • Other
It was a decision made by my corporation so I did not have much say.
Both have their advantages.

I mostly use SAP Integrated Business Planning to build a better relationship with my suppliers and also this helps me to ensure that we have an authentic supply of products and services on a regular basis and during the time of crisis. IBP also helps our team to build a transaction of information about the products, such as our regular demand forecasts and current inventory data. This would help us to work together and improve the efficiency of our supply chain.
  • Helps us to estimate close to accurate demand forecast
  • Helps to minimize the cost and boost the customer demand
  • Helps us to avoid stockouts and excess inventories.
  • The menus and tools bars are little complex to find in the dashboard of the software
  • The automation of the planning process lacks professionalism
  • There is no option available to create custom reports.
As we are a car detailing company and we often experience a seasonal demand, with more business during the warmer months and less business during the colder months but SAP IBP basically helps us to plan for these seasonal demands of the market by creating multiple planning scenarios according to every season.

  • Helps in improving the forecast and decision-making in the internal affairs of the company.
  • Now we can make improved decisions regarding inventory, staffing, and even pricing.
  • Save time by automating some of the task involved in forecasting
Because It is is a cloud-based platform that can be accessed from anywhere and also it has a user-friendly which is great for navigation within the software. As it offers a wide range of features including demand forecasting, supply chain planning, and collaboration tools which makes it even more powerful

We use IBP Demand Management and Supply and Response to mainly manage the Consensus Demand and Sales Forecast
  • IBP provides the excel plugins as the main entry point for the users which, our users, are pretty familiar with and there is no special training that is required to be up and running with these templates
  • Better SSO options with Fiori OR IDP
  • Excel Performance especially when IBP plug-ins are running with other spreadsheets

  • IBP helped improve the overall S&OP Process
  • It provides a central platform for our teams globally to manage the forecast and the demand
The two separate interfaces (Fiori Web and Excel plugin) is highly frustrating to our users. It should provide a one stop shop to the end users to engage with IBP. It should also provide better SSO options to integrate with SAP S/4HANA On-Prem
  • Cloud Solutions
  • Scalability
Prior to IBP, the whole demand management and forecasting was highly manual, spreadsheets based process.

SAP IBP is used to modernise and standardise Demand and Supply planning in a supply network comprising of many production plants and distribution centres in Western Europe, Northern Europe, US and Canada. Each node in the network having previously used clunky, disintegrated planning tools; often based on spreadsheets with no common master data.
Now, supply chain planning is standardised across the group with S&OP cycle time reduced by over 80%, forecast accuracy improved by 20% and less stressed planners!
  • Rapid to spin up a potential solution
  • Elegant visualisation of massive datasets
  • Rapid process metric generation
  • Harmonisation of planning results
  • More user-led help documentation on help.sap.com
  • More user friendly training material in learning hub
  • Easier to follow use cases in the in-app help
It is perfect for any FMCG or consumer goods business with multiple nodes in a supply network.
It requires rigorous data governance.
It is less appropriate for complex financialization of planning results.
